What's the first step we take when we need to overcome a problem? I have observed my thoughts whenever I have one, specially when I feel blocked, and one of the first things I do is having the following thoughts:
- “There has to be another way to see this or to feel about this”
- “There has to be a solution”
I asked some of my friends what is their first step when they have to face a difficult problem in their lives. Here are some of their answers:
Identifying what’s in my power to solve the problem, then accepting what I can't solve and “cut” the problem in smaller pieces.
Wanting to overcome it because without willingness, is impossible. Then I find support in friends.
Accepting that part of the problem was the way I was looking at it.
If we look very close, willingness and acceptance are big steps. The first one is the desire of feeling free from the problem. This means that you change from being a victim to being responsible of your life. This is definitely an important moment, because you become more conscious that something is wrong and needs to be fixed. It might sound cliché but accepting there’s a problem is a huge step towards the solution.
